Dell PERC 6/i Integrated Firmware Update

I have a DELL R710 Server that I need to update the PERC 6/i Integrated Controller on and I have never done this before so hopefully someone can help me out here.

First, from what I understand the best way to do this is to boot to the Dell Lifecycle Managmment. Is this correct?

Second If I'm updating that way which update file do I need? the .BIN file? Or another one?

Third, I have ESXI running on it with 3 VM's which i can shutdown without  any issues but i'd rather not lose any data.. Will this update destroy  the RAID configuration?

Migrating the VM's to another host is not an option. We use the free version on ESXi and local storage for the VM's as there is no central storage.

Well Obviouslly I don't know where to get the files for the update because I just get an error saing catalog file not found. Mkae sure that the windows(R) catalog and DELL(TM) update packages for Windows(R) are used.

I'm using local USB storage. Where do I get these files a need?

Yes, the error is while trying to use the LCC.

I do not have iDRAC.

I downloaded the DELL Repository Manager; build and ISO. It did apply updates to the Hard Drive Firmware (they didn't all have matching version); however, the firmware update for the PERC controller did not update.

finally got it updated by exporting to SUU to directory and applying the update with the LCC.

Thanks.
