Dell Power Edge 2950 - memory question

Hello all I'm looking to increase the memory in two Power Edge 2950, currently both have DDR2 11gb each. I'd like to maximise the memory in both servers. I've had a look on the internet and various forums, but I've not found anything relating to my query. My question is will the 0cx396 motherboard support DDR3 4gig memory sticks? The reason I ask, is I have a tub full of this DDR3 4gig memory sticks and loath having to spend more money when these are just sat there without a home. Cheers Dave

All revisions of the 2950 motherboard will take 4GB DIMM's, however 1) DDR3 memory will NOT work - DDR2 is required (DDR2 and DDR3 are not interchangeable or intercompatible), and 2) memory MUST be Fully-Buffered ECC.
