Ajinkya Ghare,
With number of dimms you have you have a couple choices, if the dimms are RDimms. With RDimms installed you can run the server either in Optimized Mode, or you can run Advanced ECC. With Udimms, you can only run in Optimized.
With Optimized Mode it offers the most memory population flexibility and system memory capacity, but offers the least number of RAS (reliability, availability, service) features.
With Advanced ECC two channels operate with each other by having the cache line split across both channels. This mode provides improved RAS features (SDDC support for x8-based memory).
Now with each, the BIOS would need to be set to the proper mode. You would select Memory Settings and under Memory Operating Mode, you would select Adv ECC or Optimizer mode there.
If you chose to go Optimizer Mode then the dimms would be placed in A1, A4, A2, and A5. If you chose to go with the Advanced ECC mode then you would place the dimms in slot A2, A5, A3, and A6.
Let me know if this helps clarify things.
