Dell Vrtx w/PowerEdge M520 blade servers
My company just recently purchased this set up in order to virtualize our servers with VMware esxi.
I have set up the environment with shared storage from the vrtx etc. and the VMware environment is up and running.
I am receiving odd messages about memory and cpu although this is a brand new box. Dell already replaced the motherboard in one of the servers. It's sounding like its a firmware issue, now my question is how do I update the VRTX firmware and in what order from the CMC to the idrac to the servers. I know there is supposed to be a specific order but can't really find the correct supporting information online.
Thanks!

Hello
Modern computer systems are very tolerant with update order as most updates are backwards compatible. It is still best practice to update from last to first though. Update the last to load first and work your way back to the first to load. For instance, one of the last items to load would be an application, so applications would be one of the first items to update.
In regards to the CMC and iDRAC, the two devices run slightly independent of each other so update priority doesn't matter a lot; However if the CMC is not functional the iDRAC may not come online, so the iDRAC should be updated first.
Unless it explicitly states in the update procedures for a device, driver, or application you should start updates from the last to load and work your way to the first to load.
Thanks
