External USB DVD-ROM Boot
The Poweredge R730xd does not include an internal DVD drive but has an external USB DVD-ROM. Is it possible to boot from this external drive?

ENG3,
You should be able to connect the USB Optical drive, then set the boot order to start with the External USB and it should boot to it. If not then you may need to manually (F11) select it from the Boot Menu.
Let me know how it goes.

I have a 4600 server bios A0!, it desnt boot from CD/loppy combo drive, tried a replacement - no difference. Also doesn "see" a USB CD drive hooked in rear socket. USB mouse works OK in same socket.
Trying to install OS windows SBserver 2003 have run out of options - i've seen this problem all over the net but there is no answer what to do ?
