Help Ghosting PowerEdge 600SC
I try to ghost my PowerEdge 600 SC with Norton Ghost 2003. I tryed the Intel Pro 100 and 1000 DOS-Drivers but on booting i get a "Request Service fails to start". Can anyone tell me where to find the right driver? or am i doing something wrong? I have no problems of ghosting other machines with other NICs.
Thanx for tips!

I had the same problem....
But it was on a poweredge 400SC I think you are using the same intel NIC 1000 Pro Family?
This is what I did... I am using win 2K, and Norton Ghost 2003. Goto this WebSite http://www.intel.com/support/network/adapter/1000/sb/cs-006120-prd749.htm And download the DOS, OS/2 Ghost, Imaging, Network disk NDIS 2 Drivers...
Then Extract it to a new folder. Fire up Ghost, and in the network Driver options under TCPIP choose the Intel 1000 Pro but go to folder where you extracted the files and tell it you want to use E1000 file. After it reboots you should see it look for a DHCP address and your off to the races I transferd over 500Megs in less then 18 mins. :)
Have Fun!

Thanks for the info. It was quite useful, but the link changed. Here are detailed instructions on how I got it to work on my 400SC:
For the Dell PowerEdge 400SC, the Intel Pro 1000 drivers supplied by Symantec will NOT work with Norton Ghost 2003.
To use Norton Ghost 2003 to backup your 400SC over a network to a server:
1) Go to the Intel download site (http://downloadfinder.intel.com).
2) Search for “82540EM”. Select the option for “Intel 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller”.
3) Choose “DOS” for the OS option.
4) Select the option “MS-DOS and OS/2 Drivers [PRODOS.EXE]” and download the file (about 1.5MB).
5) Run the prodos.exe executable that was just downloaded and note where the files are extracted to.
6) Run Ghost | Ghost Utilities | Norton Ghost Boot Wizard | Drive Mapping Boot Disk
7) Select “Intel Pro 1000” and then select “Modify”.
8) Select “Browse” and then select the file location, e.g. “C:\IntelPro\PRO1000\DOS\e1000.dos”. Click “OK”, Then, “Next.”
9) Other settings should be pretty obvious, other than that if you have Workgroup networking instead of Domain, you can put anything in the Domain field, e.g. “JohnDoe.com”.
10) After that disk is created, it is too big to have the Ghost executable on it. Go through the Norton Ghost Boot Wizard again with another floppy, but this time select “Standard Ghost Boot Disk”
11) Now just boot from the first disk. This will just set up DOS networking to your server. It’s a little slow, but about all you have to do is enter your password.
12) Now put in your “Standard Ghost Boot Disk”. Go to the Ghost directory and fire up ghost.exe. Note that as DOS only handles 2GB files, you will get a warning that the server may not be able to handle the data. Just be sure to enable spanning and you will end up with multiple files on the destination.
Obviously, if you have a DVD burner in your system, you do not want to go through all this trouble but should backup with the Standard Ghost Boot Disk. But being able to keep a copy on another machine is sure handy.
