hi the flash1932,

I executed the command: "racadm racresetcfg" but straightaway after that i get this message:

"ERROR: Unable to communicate with RAC controller. Please make sure that a RAC controller is rpesent in the server and appropiate software is installed"

you know what i just read that in case of that server this drac card was in option. I just check on the back of the server and there is key icon and besides there is black plastic label. is this the place for drac card and black plastic label means its just not in my server? Correct me if i am wrong as i suppose i just don;t have it and just should buy drac 4.

Open a command prompt and type in the following:

racadm racresetcfg (this will reset the DRAC to default values listed below) - the reset can take up to 10 minutes to complete - there is no progress indicated, so give it about 10 minutes before going on.

IP Address: 192.168.0.120
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Login: root
Password: calvin

If this information will not work for you, you can set the network information with the following, from the command prompt:

racadm setniccfg -s ipAddress netmask gateway

Again, may take a couple of minutes before you can access it with the new settings.

For those whom could face that issue as i was. The problem was the card, after not quit long time i receive same card from retailer and after installation problem dissapered. First card was just damaged and raises issues. Now with same but new one seems its ok with no problem, oh by the way it has newer firwmware :). Of course this model will fit for this server. Thanks for everyone for help and wish nice day.

Google       RDP  standby

RDP will not connect to a machine in standby, you need to create a magic packet.

i did also some test using angry ip scanner where server was on standby using firtly when server was connected to first gigabit port and also the secoond. Funny is ip scanner did not found any ip which could be related to this remote card. Any ideas? mabe there is somwhere an option to enable it.

hi,

I have OMSA and i can easly access it thrugh web when my os - windows server 2008 R2 is running, no problem with it. But i would like to be able also to access when server is in stand by mode, so when OS is not running. using remote card through the web. What i did was go thrugh cttl+E and then configure static ip, gateway and mask/i also tried with dhcp option, in both cases when server was standby i tried to look up for it using ip scanner from my laptop but it seems remote card ip was not found.

What OS? Do you have OMSA installed? How did you configure the DRAC network settings?

Yeah, it is an optional component. If you don't have the management port, then you don't have a DRAC installed. You need a DRAC 4/i for the 28x0.
