The supported DIMM sizes are 256, 512, 1GB, and 2GB. We did not validate any other DIMM sizes for the server. Other sizes may work in the server, but these are the sizes we have tested to work with the server.
Crucial.com shows the same as the Dell specifications - what "shops" are you looking at? Crucial is not infallible, but it is highly reliable.
The Intel specs for the 5000V chipset seem to show 4GB as being the largest DIMM size supported, so it is possible that it will work, but more likely, the BIOS has imposed a 2GB DIMM limit for various possible reasons, including cooling considerations. It is also possible that larger DIMM's need more memory channels and/or slots-per-channel than the 4-slot design of the SC1430 motherboard.
If you are the tinkering type, then try it and report back, otherwise, I would just consider the max as 8GB with 2GB DIMM's.
