PowerEdge T610: CPU Power Rating not supported

I think I hve the same problem as described in this  http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/956/t/19508837 post.  There was a picture of a way to tell a mark II chassis that will support this processor -- My question is what would I look for on the *motherboard*, to tell the difference.  I think I need to get a new motherboard, and want to make sure I get the newer Mark-II MB, but I don't know what to look for on the MB.  Is there a range of system-service codes that have the newer model or is there a date stamp somewhere on the MB that shows what revision corresponds to the later MB?

Thanks!

Astara,

Depending on the region the server is based, likely the II versions will be part number 9CGW2 or C8H92 on it. Where the original release part numbers are N028H, XFG6D, and CX0R0. There is also a 3rd release of the motherboard as well, part number YD01N and 3W53D, Now on a side note there is other hardware that changed with the motherboard releases, which if not the same version as the motherboard can cause the system not to start, such as the riser and PDB.

Let me know if this helps.

You can try going to support.dell.com, put in the service tag of your PowerEdge (assuming it has the original motherboard), and look for the original configuration. Usually the motherboard part number will mention MLK or "II" or so if it is a 2nd gen motherboard.

Another option is to look on the motherboard for a Dell Part Number (usually designated as "DP/N", and it will start with 2 letter for the country of manufacturing (e.g. CN for China), then a 0 (zero), and the next 5 characters are the regular Dell part number. Do a Google search for this part number (in combination with the word Dell), and you may be able to find if your motherboard is Gen1 or Gen2.
