I'm not familiar with advocent, but it sounds like an avocent kvm. I don't think that is the C2100 BMC. The C2100 BMC uses an AST2050 BMC. I don't think it uses an integrated Avocent KVM, but I could be wrong about that.
My first guess would be that the IP address you configured for the BMC is already in use, and you are not pinging the BMC. I would disconnect the network cable from the C2100 and see if the ICMP still responds. You could also try giving it another IP address.
If that doesn't help locate the problem then post your BMC settings.
