R510 - UUID unreadable no instance(s) available when using WMIC csproduct
I have a Dell r510 server which when I enter wmic csproduct uuid I get 'no instance(s) available'.
I have updated bios, I have re-installed operating systems (windows 2012 r2) but this information is still not revealed to the operating system.
Any ideas on why this information is not showing and I how I can reveal or add it?

Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your response.
The symptoms don't support that in the sense that I became aware of this missing information as a result of mainstream piece of software not installing just on this server.... the use of the wmic csproduct simply confirmed what product support were reporting.
In response I reinstalled windows 2012 r2 (no roles, features or addons) and ran the same command with administrative privileges and I got the same result.
I trust that in theory a fresh installation of windows 2012 r2 standard with GUI out of the box should really return the UUID and product details properly.

Hello
Unless you are experiencing issues with the system BIOS not functioning properly this is a software issue. I suggest searching knowledge bases for the application you are using to issue the command. The most likely issue is that you are not running Powershell or CLI with sufficient privileges.
You can install OpenManage Server Administrator to check for issues with the system.

If you are experiencing issues with the BIOS not reporting correctly then I would start by updating the BIOS. Updating or re-flashing the BIOS along with draining flea power may correct the issue. If you still encounter issues of the BIOS not providing SMBIOS information then verify the system you are using.
You can use the OMSA application I linked previously to check the system information and look for potential issues.
There is more than one type of R510 system. If you are using an R510 OEM or some type of custom build it may be running a version of the BIOS that will not respond correctly to SMBIOS requests. I would suggest verifying the system type you are using and checking to see if the system board has ever been replaced. If you have an R510 then the system board may have been replaced with a system board from a different type of R510.
If you are using an R510 with the correct system board, flashing the system BIOS does not correct the issue, and taking the system to minimum-to-POST has no affect then you will likely need to replace the system board.
Thanks
