Hello

Could the power supply be bad?

It's possible.

What do you mean by "flickering"? Is the power button flashing in a pattern or is it flickering randomly like it is not receiving adequate power?

Have you tried bypassing the UPS? have you checked the UPS status? This could be an issue with the UPS not supplying adequate power. If the UPS was utilized because of the power outage then the battery may have drained and not recharged fully. UPS' usually run power through the battery, so if the UPS battery is failing then it may not be providing adequate power.

Thanks

And, yes I did bypass the UPS. Also, we were only on the UPS for under a minute until my generator kicked in.

I've determined that the power supply is bad. I swapped it with a power supply in another computer. When I put the good power supply in the sc440 all of the fans and disks start up but I do not get a POST display. the monitor remains blank. does this indicate that the MB is bad or is there something else I can look into.

Thanks,

Yes, there could be an issue with the system board. This is starting to sound like an electrical surge that damaged several components.

Before you replace the system board I would suggest removing any unnecessary components from the system. This would be taking the system to minimum to POST. Any device connected to the system via USB, PCI/e, or any other method can cause it to not POST properly.

Once you have narrowed the problem down and verified it is the system board, CPU, or a memory module then you will start replacing most likely parts. The most likely part would be the system board. You should be able to rule out memory since you should have more than 1.

One other thing to consider is the power supply. It is my understanding that most of our power supplies are not standard ATX connectors. If you are not using one of our power supplies then it may not be fully functional.

Thanks

Hi! my name is Javier, i have the same issue with my Dell SC440, the amber led is on always and the Server won´t power up. I even changed the power supply and it does the same. The MB doesn´t have any periferials attached just the RAM.

The server was running correctly yesterday, i took all the parts out, except the Processor, and plug all again.

I´ll appreciate your help
