The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0

I have installed a DVD/CDRW (Sony NEC Optiarc CRX890A - CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo drive) on a PE 2650 running W2K8 Server. I believe this drive should be compatible with PE2650.

On startup the server hangs for 30 minutes and comes up with:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0

If I disable the IDEPort it reboots in 5 minutes.

Any ideas what I can do to fix the problem?

Any better suggestions on a CDRW/DVD drive that will work in this server?
