Updating BIOS on PowerEdge T110 II
Anyone have any experience with updating the BIOS on any dell servers specifically the PowerEdge T110 II. I have tried downloading the DOS install placing it on a bootable thumbdrive with dos install but the server could not see installation package on there.
I have also installed a 32 bit OS (server 2008 32 bit) on the drive, downloaded the 32 BIOS update (I currently have 2.2.3 and there are two newer ones), and I have tried running that but both times it says the installation failed.
I have downloaded Dell repository Manager followed some instructions for creating a repository and creating a Linux ISO for my server but I get an error that says it can't read from sector xxx on CD0, and then it says after that Kernel Panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs unknown-block(1,0).
I changed my boot from UEFI, to BIOS (per some discussions online) but this didn't help infact the disk would not load at all while it did previously before I got to the point with the errors.
Any help would be apprediated.
Thanks,
Stephen Bailey

Try the following steps:
1. Download the bios update from here: http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01483236M/1/PET110II_020403.exe
2. Rename the file 110Tupd.exe The problem you are having is the filename is too long when trying to run from your bootable USB key.
3. Copy the file to the root of your bootable key and boot up the server.
4. Run the update file and restart the server.
Let me know if this works for you.

I actually read this somewhere before I began - and It is somewhat confusing to me - as I downloaded it directly from DELL - and the name was about the same as what you have suggested -
I the meantime - do I just turn off my computer? That is my biggest fear right now -
