iDRAC8 Email Alerts Not Working
Hello,
I am trying to setup email alerts on a PowerEdge R430 with iDRAC8. We use Office 365 for our email. I tried many different combinations of settings but I always end up with the error "RAC0225: Sending the test mail failed." when I try to send a test email.
I used the SMTP settings provided in this page: support.office.com/.../POP-and-IMAP-settings-for-Outlook-Office-365-for-business-7fc677eb-2491-4cbc-8153-8e7113525f6c
DNS and other network settings and all set correctly in iDRAC. I also tried setting the DNS Domain Name field with Office 365 domain name as recommended is some Reddit page but the problem still persists. I also tried using the SMTP server IP address instead of the domain name and tried using port 25 as well.
Your help is much appreciated.

Try this if you haven't already.
Network settings
Set DNS DRAC Name to: fromuser
Set DNS Domain Name to: fromdomain.com
Alerts SMTP setttings
SMTP server: smtp.office365.com
enable authentication
use user account to send from in office 365
Port: 587

Just to add to the importance of this request.
I have more than 15 servers, all from 730, 630, 430 series with latest iDRAC8 and our main email server is an external one with a dedicated Office 365 account. I tried everything to make the iDrac email to work with Office 365 SMTP but getting the same error "RAC0225" everytime as MAXIMUMADMINPRIVILEGES is getting.
It is supposed to be our backup notification system since we have OpenEssentials in place and working as primary notification source. We must have this working to be safe since a windows server and an OpenEssential software is on the notification critical path. Idrac should be able to be autonomous with sending email notification at least.
Thanks in advance for your help as well

Any updates on this issue?
MAXIMUMADMINPRIVILEGES, have you found a solution on your side?

I haven't found a solution yet. Actually, I am trying to set alerts using OpenManage Essentials now (thanks for mentioning this btw) but no success with this one too. I think it might be an issue from our side so I'm giving it more time to try and configure it.

Let's keep each other updated. Open Essentials is really convenient to have as it centralized everything but it is now on the critical path of alert notification and I had cases of it not working or server hosting no working and then you become blind unless each iDrac has their own autonomy to sent alerts themselves. That's why I want both of them to beaware whatever the cases. Good luck with setting it up.
Anybody from Dell has updates on this subject? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My two cents..
I have not been able to get the Dell emails to work - ever...
So I ended up setting an external Syslog server as the recipient - the messages do get logged there, and the syslog server sends an email out of its an error or more severity.
Just a thought...

Wow,
@keithpayne1064 That worked for me...but why!? It would be great to keep a meaningful dns name for the idrac and still have notifications work.
Now my email notifications don't actually point to a usable url on the local network.

I had to utilize SMTP2GO.com to get our iDRAC8 notifications working. Office365 configurations just would not work.
Now the only issue I have is it won't notify me when I pull the power cord or the PSU as a test.

@keithpayne1064 setting the dns name to my username was the key. After doing this it worked!
