virtual disk drive failure
hello all,
I'm running a Dell PowerEdge r510 server with a 250 gb hd set to RAID. The server shut down and when I rebooted, it says virtual disk failure and PXE-E53: No boot filename received . Does anyone know a fix. I had two company shared drives on there that I need to recover. I have ordered two new hard drives as well which I'll receive tomorrow. Please advise.
thanks

First, the PXE message is not an error - it is simply the boot option following the hard drive (which failed).
So, you only had ONE drive in "RAID" on this server? So, did you have a PERC 6 or H700 RAID controller? Need to know which one you have in order to tell you if you have any options at this point.

Yeah, you can install OMSA (if it isn't already installed) and check for the drives/controller under Storage.

Which one? The S100 is built-in, so it is possible for you to actually have both the S100 and the PERC 6/H700.
To tell: you can check your order details, you can look in the CTRL-R utility during POST, check the iDRAC, or check in OMSA.
Which OS do you have?

You tried https://servername:1311, https://localhost:1311, and https://ipaddress:1311? It actually said exactly that "communication failed"? or that the webpage could not be displayed?
If it won't connect to any of the above, do the install again ... use the default settings (do NOT change any of the settings, including the web server portion - this IS the connector for OMSA).

I tried connecting with the IP address and host name and it says communication failed.
