DELL Perc 4e/Di Disk Configuration on Dell PowerEdge 2850
We have 6 servers, all with Dell Perc 4e/Di raid controllers that we are trying to convert to Hyper-V. They all fail with 'Error Loading Operating System'. The only thing I can see within disk manager is a 4mb unallocated section of the drive on all six machines. Other servers with Perc 5 and 6 convert OK, but all the drive is used. For a trial are we OK to allocate the 4mb a drive letter and format to see if this portion is confusing the conversion? Is the 4mb there for a reason.
Thanks Paul

Hi Paul,
You might have a better shot at getting an answer to your question if you repost it in the Server -- PowerEdge HDD forums. This board tends to get more questions regarding consumer hard drives than server ones, and the users on that PE HDD board may have the answer you're looking for.

What version of Server or Hyper-V are you using? 2008R2 and later need drivers for the PERC as Microsoft dropped native support for SCSI starting with 2008R2. Also, the processors in the 2850 do not support VT, so Hyper-V won't run on them.
