ESXi and RAID configuration
Hi All,
Going to be installing ESXi 6.7 and in the iDRAC on the R740 under RAID type it is giving me the options for Windows RAID or Linux RAID. Which one do I want to use?
TIA

Hi,
Which RAID controller are you using?

Hi,
It's a PERC H730 Adapter.
Thanks.

Create the virtual disk in the controller and then use the vmware media to install. https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln132533/how-to-initialize-and-create-a-virtual-disk-with-a-dell-poweredge-raid-controller-perc-?lang=en

Where are you seeing the option? There shouldn't be a choice with those instructions.

Thanks Josh,
However, this doesn't answer my question.
Do I use a windows RAID or a Linux RAID?

Yes you do. If you configure via the lifeCycle Controller.
To install ESX 6.7 Dell Custom iso --> Windows RAID or Linux Raid ?

Configure it in "BIOS" F2 - Device Settings - Integrateed RAID Dell PERC H730P.
(You may need to change SATA setings to RAID Mode in "System BIOS Settings - SATA Settings")

Windows RAID. You can do RAID 0,1,5,10. Linux RAID is RAID 1 only. Found in the lifecycle user guide (which I tried linking but then wouldn't let me post).
