Enable passthrough on H710P
Is it possible to add passthrough on an H710P raid controller? I am looking to build a test VMware vsan system and need to have disk passthrough for vsan to see the SSD drives that are installed. Any help pointing me to how to configure that would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully this can be done without flashing the controller to another firmware.
Current firmware version is 21.1.0-0007
Thank you

I've confirmed with the Dell PERC Product Manager that there is not a way to enable pass through on the H710P. It is supported on VMware's HCL (http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?deviceCategory=vsanio&productid=21840&deviceCategory=vsanio&details=1&vsan_type=vsanio&io_partner=23&page=1&display_interval=10&sortColumn=Partner&sortOrder=Asc) but only in the RAID 0 configuration. An alternative, and preferred, design is to use the LSI 9207 HBA which is available via factory install from Dell. Just as an FYI it is also supported on VMware's HCL (http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?deviceCategory=vsanio&productid=35993&deviceCategory=vsanio&details=1&vsan_type=vsanio&io_partner=23&page=1&display_interval=10&sortColumn=Partner&sortOrder=Asc)

No ... the H710 does not support non-RAID ... each disk must be part of a Virtual Disk (VD - RAID array), even if it is a single-disk RAID 0.

OK... i tried the single disk RAID 0 configuration but VSAN does not see the disk types through the controller, just the disks. Guess I am going to have to find some new hardware to do this VSAN test.
Thank you for the response.
