PowerEdge 6300 Disk Upgrade

I have 3 drive bays open on my 6300 and I want to add 36 Gbyte drives. From the research I've done it looks like a Seagate ST136403LC should work. It is an Ultra2/LVD SCSI drive with a 80 pin SCA connector. Has anyone tried to install larger than 18 Gbyte drive on the 6300?

Dell does offer a 36GB drive for the 6300, Dell PN 2156P. It is an IBM 08L8485 36gb lvd drive. For more information check out the following url:

Can you give me the part number for the drive carrier I need that replaces the place holder I have in the bay now. I have three empty bays that I intend to fill with the 36 Gbyte drive you recommended. Is there anything beyond the drive carrier and the drive that I need? Thanks.

0748C and 3901C. The first part # is the carrier kit and the second is the handle for 1.6" drives. Nothing more should be required

Dear Steve,

is there a possibility to have a larger disk than 36 GB in Dell PowerEdge 6300 using Dell Perc RAID controller or any other e.g. Adaptec SCSI Controllers? Im unable to find an answer to my question in this forum. Thanks a lot.
