R710 and ST3600057SS RAID

Hi,

I want to install 2x ST3600057SS drives into a power edge R710.

I am trying to create a Raid 1 with 2 drives.
Before I create the Virtual Disk the drives are in a Ready state.
After the create the VD displays Failed along with the drives.

BIOS: 6.4
PERC 6/i: 6.3.3
Drives: ES0B

Do I need to up date the firmware on the drives.
If so how do I do that?

Thanks

Nocter,

You can boot to OMSA Live and once there you can run this update to update the drives to ES68.

After that then see if the issue continues.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi DELL-Chris H,

I tried the above but it didn't work,

I got an error message saying "The Update Package is not compatible with your system configuration"

When I ran update_firmware: and found the following 'ste60005 clar600'

The ST3600057SS disk's are from an old EMC CAE system that is not used any more.

Would this be the cause of this issue, and if so how do I resolve it?

Thanks

You can also try this version of the update. The drives should be supported. So I don't think that is the issue.

I too have the same problem with drives that came out of an EMC CAE system. Does it with the 400GB SAS drives. I have some 750GB SATA drives that came out of a EMC CAE and they work fine.
