For Cachecade you want to use an enterprise class SSD, which the Samsung's 840 series isn't.

I'd recommend to get something more along the lines of:

- Micron's RealSSD P400e series

- Intel's 710 series

- Seagate's Pulsar.2 series

Well, any of these drives may or may not work. The only ones anyone can 'guarantee' to work are Dell SSDs.

That being said, you want a drive with a high durability, not just fast. SSDs have a limited write lifespan. For home use, most SSDs will last a decent amount of time, but Cachecade is going to be used heavily for writes most likely, which means that the write durability will play a big role. Desktop/laptop quality drives have a much lower write lifespan than enterprise class drives (it is not uncommon for an enterprise class drive to be able to do 10 times more in writes than a home-user class drive).

A 15k rpm SAS harddrive can typically do up to 200 IOPS. If you have an enterprise class SSD that does 10,000 IOPS, it may seem slow compared to a home-user class SSD that can do 90k IOPS, but it is still a huge performance boost from a 15k SAS drive.
