1650 Won't Restart Automatically After Power Failure/APC Outlet Reboot
Hi all,
I have a Dell 1650 (non-redundant power...aka single power cord) that I have hooked into our APC AP7930 Switched Rack PDU. I have been testing how to do a reset using the APC in case the machine needs a remote hard reboot, but when I reset the outlet that the 1650 is on, the 1650 will not restart... but remains off... even though the outlet has come back online
Is there a setting in the BIOS of the 1650 like an "always on" so that in the event of a power loss/restore, the server will turn back on automatically once power is restored? Or is this set somewhere else? I know that the machine can restart itself, since it restarts remotely when I tell the machine to restart through the OS. (Currently running Windows 2000).
Even better, since we have a lot of servers on these switches. Is there a way to determine if a machine is set to automatically restart without going into the BIOS (Since it is a production environment, I don't want to restart if I don't have to) For example, does DSET or Dell Open Manage tell you anything about the BIOS settings/Power settings?
Many Thanks,
K
