2850 E0412 Fan 7 & 8

Question

I installed a second PERC 4/DC PCI-X card and I had to remove and reinsert the riser card during the installation. Upon reboot I now get a E0412 error on Fans 7 and 8. I can only find 6 fans in the box (all working properly), so where are the two missing fans??

There are only 6 fans in the 2850, besides the fans in the power supplies, but I don't think the message is talking about those...

I think it's most likely the BMC firmware...

I would try updating the BIOS, BMC and Backplane, and clearing the Server Event Log.

That makes sense. I'll try the upgrades on our next maintenance cycle (this weekend) and re-post the results.

Sounds very much like firmware however suggest also that you check the pins on the riser card. These can be bent on re-insertion of the riser card. If the firmware doesn't fix, good chance that is the problem.
