Do you mean removing the hostname from the OS on the blade, or in the CMC?

What you will need to do is the following;

1 Log in to the CMC Web interface.

2 Select Server Overview in the Chassis menu in the system tree.

3 Click Setup - Slot Names. The Slot Names page displays.

4 Type the updated or new name for a slot in the Slot Name field. Repeat

this action for each slot you want to rename.

5 Click Apply.

To restore the default slot name (SLOT-01 to SLOT-16, based on the

server's slot position) to the server, press Restore Default Value.

Why should it be such a major ordeal to simply change a hostname on the CMC? Even Dell's own Tech support **bleep** **bleep** on this topic, because this genius -Chris H from Dell- listed how to change the SLOT name. No guru, I want to change the Host name of the server in slot 15 and for some reason Dell doesn't seem to think this is important enough to be able to be done through the IDRAC interface or CMC GUI. Another Dell tech support lists commands that "may" work. How about a definitive answer Dell???

Hey Joey you ever get an answer to this? I agree that is "should" be simple...but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this!
