BIOS upgrade on power edge R730xd running Solaris

Hello, need to do a BIOS upgrade but the server is running Solaris 11.3 . Have checked the support pages and Solaris is not on the list for a file download to update BIOS. So how is it done, do I need to create a bootable USB with a supported OS and install the upgrade that way, trying to avoid that as server is at a remote site ,  I'm hoping I can just do it from the IDRAC with a file.

Thanks

You can download BIOS Dell Update Package EXE file and use iDRAC for updating BIOS. Below link have details on same

Update BIOS using iDRAC is independent t of operating system. You can refer below link for more details on this. We need to use update packaged EXE file to update BIOS with iDRAC.

If your iDRAC have access to the internet your can switch from "local" to "HTTPS" as source and after entering "ftp.dell.com" as server address you will get a list of all "missing" FW updates. You can select the package of your choice and youre done.
If you dont have a iDRAC the LCC can do the same but you have to reboot your machine first.

You can download the "platform.iso" for your R730 which contains a bootable linux and it will patch all outdated FW in your server.

Or as already mentioned you can fetch the *win64.exe version of every FW package and do it manually trough the iDRAC.

If your Server have Solaris or none OS installed doesnt matter.

Joerg

Confirming the update worked ok from the IDRAC using the win64.exe update. The Dell support site instructions I found not great and don't mention this file can be used on any OS . I went from 2.4 to 2.7 and then to the latest 2.13 with no issues.
