Battery on Controller PERC 5/E Adapter failed
Hello,
We have Dell PowerEdge 2950 server with PERC 5/i Integrated & PERC 5/E Adapter (PCI Slot 2, connected to PowerVault MD1000)
This morning Dell OpenManger Server Administrator showed that Battery on Controller PERC 5/E Adapter Failed. (State: Failed, Predicted Capacity Status: Failed)
How serious is this ?
What kind of battery is this ? TBBU ?
Where to buy it?
If I replace it, would be any raid/data loss ?
Thanks a lot for any help.
Igi

Vtbs,
I believe you also posted on Spiceworks as well. Here is the answer though -
The battery, part number 312-0448, is used to maintain the ability for the controller to write the remaining data to the drives in case of a failure. Now the battery does not maintain any of the raid configuration, as that is on the controller and the drives themselves. So replacing the battery won't affect the configuration.
If you wanted to purchase the battery you can locate it here
Let me know if this helps answer your question.
