C6100 xs23-ty3

Hi Guys

Long story short

I saved a c6100 from going in the rubbish. (But don't know the history of the machine)

I plan to refurbish it.

Missing is: Fans, Memory, PSU, hard drives, cooling shrouds and mezzanine card

I have replaced PSU and got couple sticks of RDDR3

What else do I need to get this to boot.

When power is connected both BMC LEDs light up on the motherboards after 10sec they start to heart beat which I believe is normal.

Also the LED on the fan board lights up but flash's erratic behaviour is this normal??

There is no lights on any of the power buttons front or rear.

What should I try next?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Regards Patrick

Hello MadPadd,

Try starting with minimum to post components. If you get good POST put things back in a little at a time until you find a faulting component.

Minimum Components

System will not turn on if any of the following are not properly installed

On the Node:

System Board

CPU

Heatsink

1 DIMM Memory

Interposer Extender

On the Chassis:

Power Supply

Power Distribution Boards

Midplanes

Power Cables to Midplanes

Also reference:

Support page:  https://dell.to/31IQWWm

PowerEdge C6100 Hardware Owner's Manual:  https://dell.to/3kvdxOB

Please let me know how it goes.

Hi Charles Thanks for your reply. Sorry about my late reply. OK I have had time now to do more tinkering with the server. I found the CPUs where missing but the heat sinks was in place 🤦‍ . Anyway I now have it up and running with operating system installed. My only problem now is find the correct fans for it. All the fans I can find on Internet do not have the correct number of pins for connecting to the fan controller board. I require 5 pin connection but all I can find is 4 pin or lower. Am I missing something? Many thanks for your last reply. Regards Patrick

Hi,

Referring to the user guide: https://dell.to/2YBJjAb I can only see 3 fans, 2 large ones and 1 smaller. The part number available in the database for the server C2100 fans are H2K1D and K95P3.

Let me know if it helps.

Hi Patrick,

Apologies, I got mixed up with another reply. Well, I only found PN# 104TT as the only available fan assembly.
