Can Xeon 80546k Irwindale Run 64-bit Guest OS' on VMware ESX Server 3.5?

I have a SC1425 with a single Xeon 80546k processor.  I have installed VMware ESX Server 3.5 and can load and run 32-bit OS guest systems, but when I tried to install CentOS 4.6 x86_64 version, I get the "Your CPU does not support long mode.  Use a 32-bit version" message.  I can install and run the exact same CentOS version if it is installed directly onto the SC1425 natively as the only OS.

I know this Xeon has EM64T, but is the problem maybe not having/not enabled Intel VT technology?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You are right. you need VT support to run 64bit VM. You can download and use a tool which checks for 64bit compatibility. The tool is at:
