DELL R610 and ST9500430SS HDD

Hi,

I have a DELL R610 with "Failed" state on one of the ST9500430SS HDD.

I have tried to replace it with other ST9500430SS Part number 9XF10KW9 that is not DELL Certified and R610 still say "Failed" state.

Does R610 accepts only "DELL Certified" HDD's from DELL?

Thanks,

Asaf

Hello,

normally and as I know and tested, you can plug every hard disk...

Some questions to try to understand the problem :

- is the HDD a part of a raid volume ?

- wich controller are you using ?

- how did you replace it ? hot swapping server on or server off ?

- how LEDS blinked ? rapid orange or orange/green ?

- where are you seeing that the disk is marked as "Failed" ? iDRAC, OMSA ?

Hello,

Yes the HDD is part of Raid 10 (4 HDD's) on slot 0 to 4 where the "Failed" HDD is on Port 1.

I am using "PERC H700 Integrated (Embedded)" controller.

I have replaced the HDD hot swapping with server on.

LED's are blinking orange/green.

I see "Failed" on OMSA and on iDRAC (Fault detected on Drive 1).

Also at CTRL+R (Configuration Utility) at POST boot time at "Physical Disks" the HDD marked as "Failed" and I don't have any option to do any operation on it.

Thanks,

Asaf
