Hello GREENbooks13

While we do not do initial config and deployment, we have Deployment Service you can contract, I will provide support documentation for you.

I recommend bookmark the Support page:

The R720 was only validated up to ESXi 6.5 so I cannot say what behavior you will have with ESXi 6.7

Your PowerEdge R720 supports these operating systems:

ESXi 6.5 I recommend using our Dell ISO that has validated drivers included

This is DellEMC Customized Image of VMware ESXi 6.5 U3

How to solve iDRAC6, iDRAC7 and iDRAC8 connectivity and configuration issues?

https://dell.to/3bEV0iS

To configure the iDRAC:

Boot to F2 > iDRAC Settings > Network.

Configure IP, Subnet and Gateway.

Note connection being used i.e. LOM1, Dedicated…..Dedicated preferred and only active with an Enterprise license. Be sure to connect cable to dedicated port on back, the one with wrench icon.

Default credentials are user: root, password: calvin.

ESXi 6.7 and even 7.0 runs fine on our 12Gen Servers like R720. Of course they are not supportet on paper and it s*cks if you have small SD cards or SD cards in general(when using ESXi 7.0).

About the iDRAC... the Enterise(which is great) comes with a dedicated management (even more great!) port so be sure that you hook up a 2nd. cable from your switch to the server.
Keep in mind that iDRAC can use a shared network port or the dedicated one.(we always use the dedicated).

You can configure IP, Mask, GW through the small LCD display. You can omit DNS during this step because you can add these infos later when having access to the WebGUI. (We have a script to set this and all other infos we need).

If you dont like the LCD use the LCC or press CTRL-E or maybe -P during the server post checks.

Regards,
Joerg
