DRAC v1.54 vs. v1.97

 I have two R710 servers with DRAC6 Enterprise. The difference between the two are the version of Firmware each is running. The problem I'm encountering is the DRAC running v1.54 allows a successful Virtual Console to establish. When I attempt to run a Virtual Console on the R710 running v1.97, it fails with a Connection Failure error message in java.

 I have explored all the exception listings in Java, firewalls, etc and nothing else appears to be blocking the R710 with v1.97 from establishing the VirtConsole, but time and time again it fails and the DRAC running v1.54 works.

 Does anybody know what the differences are with v1.54 and the newer DRAC firmware versions? And is it possible to get an old copy of v1.54? I tried looking on the Dell Support site and it only has versions back to v1.85 available.

Thans,

Hello.

Have you tried upgrading the current browser or using a different browser to begin with?

Robert:

 I'm actually bypassing the browser in terms of opening the Virtual Console.

I'm downloading the viewer.jnlp file and then running:  javaws viewer.jnlp

I get all the pop ups about the untrusted/unrestricted access and clicking Continue/Run, afterwards only to receive the following error in the Java Console:

01/16/2017 04:25:06:585: Starting client.
====setPowerMenuStatus: (##2)

ProtocolAPCP: Version [1.0]

01/16/2017 04:25:07:233:  Connection failed.

 When I do the same thing on the DRAC running v1.54, I get this in the Java Console Window:

01/16/2017 04:29:13:958: Starting client.
====setPowerMenuStatus: (##2)

ProtocolAPCP: Version [1.0]

NativeKeyboard.init() Native library loading [jawt]
JNLPClassLoader: Finding library libjawt.dylib
NativeKeyboard.init() Native library loading [avctKVMIO]

I've gone through and compared settings between the v1.54 and v1.97 DRACs and everything matches. And its just one of those Pull-Your-Hair-Out moments when you know it should work, but it doesn't.  lol

Even then, certain browser components are still tied to the VC application. When IE is your choice of browser and for Java-based virtual console; disable the Enhanced Security Mode. Otherwise,  ActiveX plug-in in the iDRAC6 configuration ought to be selected

I'm actually using a MacBook and I've used Safari and Firefox with no change. I get the same results.
