Dell PowerEdge M1000e Blade server configuration
Hello,
Recently we've got a M1000e chassis and 8 server modules equipped with two XEON quad core CPUs and 16GB (or 32GB I'm not sure) memory each.
The blade should be used in a development and testing lab. As this is my first blade installation I'm not sure about all the configuration options for this blade system.
The platform on the blade will be vmware esx or vmware esxi server.
So far I've installed just one esxi server for testing purposes. I can install esx server on each server and create a vmware cluster with these servers. In this case I have 8 separate hosts running esx server.
The thing which I'm interesting in is; is it possible to configure the blade system to work as a single server? I mean that the 8 server modules work as a single server. This way we could allocate all of the blades available resources for a single VM if necessary.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

What you want doesn't exist (yet).
If you read the VMware maximum configuration pdf, you'll see that a single VM cannot use more than 8 virtual cores anyway, so it wouldn't matter if you could make those 8 blades into a single (huge) server.
