The issue you will run into with this is the number of total dimms. With the R720 the dimms must match across all the channels, as seen below.
So in order to be successful I believe you will need to either add 8 dimms, not 6, or you will need to just replace the 8GB dimms with the 16GB's. With having a dimm count of 10 you would only have 5 per processor, leaving a channel with an odd number of dimms to the others.

There is broken memory one of the my 16 gb memories. I will change it and give you information about this.
