You would not be able to purchase the TPM card outside of Dell, as the card is tied with the system board. Ref: https://dell.to/2JncejZ ; therefore, it's not advisable to purchase refurbished online other than from Dell.
Unfortunately, the TPM card can not be purchase as a separate item. It is factory installed component.
I can provide you the part number, but I doubt it may work purchasing outside of Dell. To think of it, it's more towards system security, although it may be available as refurbished and out side of dell, the 3rd party would be able to have a copy of your crypto key. This would be my thought.
We just discovered that the 10 servers R440 servers we ordered were delivered without TPM and TPM is necessary for our project. We have no issue with buying TPM modules for these new servers directly from Dell but you seem to be saying that unless they were initially ordered with TPM that Dell is unable/unwilling to sell them afterwards!?!
Is it really impossible to purchase TPM modules from Dell for our servers to correct this mistake?
Given that TPM is a no-cost option, why isn't either TPM 1.2 or TPM 2.0 the default option instead of no TPM?!? The buyers have no idea what TPM is. Defaulting to No TPM and with no means to rectify the situation will transform the 10 R440s into unusable hardware.
