Resetting the CMC (Chassis Management Controller) password on a Dell PowerEdge FX2s can be done physically through the server hardware. Please note that this procedure involves opening the server chassis, so it should be performed with caution, and it may void any existing warranties. Here are the steps to reset the CMC password:
Before proceeding, ensure that the server is powered off and disconnected from the power source for safety reasons.
Locate the CMC Jumper: Inside the server chassis, you'll need to find the CMC jumper, which is a small hardware component used to reset the CMC password. The jumper is usually located near the CMC module on the motherboard.
Clear the CMC Settings: To reset the CMC password, you need to move the jumper to a specific position. The position is usually labeled as "Clear" or "CMC Reset." This step clears the CMC settings, including the password.
Wait for a Moment: After moving the jumper, leave it in the "Clear" or "CMC Reset" position for a brief moment (typically 5-10 seconds).
Reset the Jumper: After waiting for a moment, put the jumper back to its original position. This step completes the password reset process.
Close the Chassis: Securely close the server chassis and ensure that all connections are properly reestablished.
Power on the Server: Now, power on the server, and the CMC will be reset to its default settings, including the default password.
After completing these steps, you should be able to access the CMC with its default login credentials. Please refer to your server's documentation or Dell's support resources for the default username and password for your specific PowerEdge FX2s model.
Once you have regained access to the CMC, you can configure new login credentials and make any necessary adjustments to the system settings.
Remember to take proper precautions when working with server hardware, and if you're unsure about any step, it's advisable to seek assistance from a qualified technician or Dell support.
