So basically it won't work in the R310?

I'm unsure as for example it also says the H700 doesnt support SATA 6GBPS, but i've read online that it actually does.

I did a quick Google search and it seems that there are other people that have R310s with H700s so you should be fine. It supports SAS and SATA, 3Gbps and 6Gbps (ran a bunch of WD VelociRaptors on those H700s in the past)

You will need to make sure you have the correct SAS cables as I can't really tell what the S300 looks like (some models have it onboard), and make sure the cables fit in the backplane

H700 comes with a seperate BBU, while the H710 has it onboard. H700 is much cheaper so you should just go with that

The modular H700s are for blade servers only. On blades the BBU is installed on the motherboard and isn't part of the RAID controller kit.

The only h700 option for the T310 are cards can use PCIe  slot 1 (priority) . Check on Ebay, for cards which can have a sled ( bracket).

(grabs shovel, starts digging)

Did you use the regular PERC H700's on your R310's or did you try using the Modular version of the PERC H700 where the SAS 6/iR card slot is?

I got a lot of R310 servers, and a lot of Modular PERC H700's. I'm going to see what happens and pop one in anyway. Just seeing if you did this with modular or went with the regular H700 cards.
