Dell R310 won't boot due to memory

I have a R310 that I'm trying to breathe new life into. I procured 32GB of RAM (MT36KSF1G72PZ-1G4M1HF 8GB 1333MHZ PC3L-10600R CL9 ECC 2RX4). When I install the RAM, it will not boot and I get a 1,4 error (Motherboard failure).  I have some 4GB dimms and it will boot fine with those.  As far as I can tell, the 8GB dimms are compatible, but it just will not boot.

Any ideas?  I've tried clearing NVRAM (I think, the jumper diagram isn't helpful).

Processor is an X3430.

Thanks

Hi CanadianWeasel,

so you dug this old guy out and want to resurrect it?

Ok, here is a list of supported 8GB modules:

R310 Supported 8GB MEMORY MODULES
4WYKP DIMM,8G,1066,4RX8,8,240,R,LV
K075P DIMM,8G,1066,4RX8X72,8,240,REG
3XWJ8 DIMM,8G,1066,4RX8X72,K075P,BIC
FDN6D DIMM,8GB,1066,4RX8,4WYKP, BIC

Do you see the difference between the ones you have?

Look at this: 2RX4 vs 4Rx8

The speed is not an issue as the system will down clock.

Hope that helped.

Best regards,
Stefan

Ah.  So they shan't work.

Thanks.  I'll have to source some different ones, somehow.
