Dell R610 Memory Part Number Compatibility

Hi All,

We have an existing R610 with 96GB RAM (12x 8GB) and are planning to replace 6 of the 8GB dimms with 6x 12GBs, to have a total of 144GB.

Based on the socket chart above, the memory configuration will be as follows:

6x 16GB dimms on the white tabbed slots

6x 8GB dimms on the black tabbed slots

Currently. the 12x 8GB dimms are a mix of PC3-10600R and PC3L-10600R part numbers. If I replace the 6x 8GB dimms with 16GB dimms, do I need to have the same part number (PC3-10600R or PC3RL10600R)? Or can I use other part numbers for the 16GB dimms such as PC3-8500R?

Thanks in advance.

Hello.

Based on the socket chart above, the memory configuration will be as follows:

6x 16GB dimms on the white tabbed slots

6x 8GB dimms on the black tabbed slots

Yes, this is the correct memory population.

Currently. the 12x 8GB dimms are a mix of PC3-10600R and PC3L-10600R part numbers. If I replace the 6x 8GB dimms with 16GB dimms, do I need to have the same part number (PC3-10600R or PC3RL10600R)? Or can I use other part numbers for the 16GB dimms such as PC3-8500R?

Not necessarily, as long the memory module is compatible with the server. I haven't however been able to determine whether or not the said mosule is compatible with R610 server. Here is the P/N of similar memory that is compatible P/N Y898N or  20D6F

Thank you.
