Dell R720XD - Seagate ST33000650SS not showing in Firmware Inventory
Hello,
I have a couple of Seagate ST33000650SS installed on the R720XD. I also have a Hitachi installed (That one shows up in the firmware inventory). The seagate drives show up in the hardware inventory, and I created a Virtual Disks with them. However, they do not show up in the firmware inventory, and trying to update them via iDRAC comes back a error of not being able to update because no such hardware is found in the inventory. My fans have also went up to 25%-41%; not sure if there is a connection.
Any reason why the drives are not showing up in the firmware inventory?
Thanks!

Hi,
I would suspect that the drive is incompatible with the server. I did remember assisting another user about the server's fans are spinning high when the drives is inserted. Could you let me know if the drives are Dell certified drives? The drives should have a white sticker labelled DPN#. The lifecycle controller inventory only contain firmware that are compatible with PowerEdge.
Also, have you checked if the iDRAC/LCC and BIOS is up to date?
