Dual PSU, dual voltages question..

I have a 2950 server, with dual hotswap power supplies.  It is my understanding that I can use either my normal 120V PDU outlets that most of my servers are plugged into, or the 208V UPS that my 6950 is plugged into.  (that it works from 120-240V).

Assuming I am reading that right, Is it possible to plug my 2950 into both at the same time?  For the sake of Paranoia, I would like to plug each power supply into a different UPS, but they run different voltages.  Will this work, or will it allow me to see how much smoke is stored in the server? ;)

I'm not sure if this is possible. I've never considered or tried this. I think this may be possible as most powersupplies would handle the 'conversion' internally.

I can understand using 2 separate UPSes, but I'd suggest to look into using 2 UPSes that provide the same power level. Alternatively, you could put 1 powersupply on a 110/120V UPS and the other on 'just' a surge strip.

I also haven't seen or heard of this being done. But i would suggest its possible, as the power supplies will still pull the current they require. So as long as the 120V has enough capacity to sufficiently supply the PSU with the required power, i don't think this will be a problem.
