E1245 CPU 2 VIO Regulator failure. Contact Support. E1000 Failsafe voltage error. Contact support.

dear all, i have a troubleshooting on dell poweredge R910

so, for resolve this problem, I have do this configuration

 

  • Two Processors
  • Two DDR3 RDIMMs in Slots 1 and 2 of Memory Riser_A
  • I/O riser installed
  • One power supply
  • 2.5" SAS backplane (4-drive or 16-drive) installed and connected to system board
  • Control panel connected to system board
  • Power Distribution Board connected to the power supply and system board

1/ if I put the CPU1 and CPU2 the server don’t boot but I have this error on the front display of server:

 

E1245

CPU 2 VIO Regulator failure. Contact Support.

E1000

Failsafe voltage error. Contact support.

 

2/if I put the CPU1 and CPU3, the server start and I can view POST but I have this error:

 

CPU configuration is invalid. Supported populations are CPU1 and CPU2 populated, or all sockets populated.

System halted!

 

I have same message if I put only the CPU1.

 

Please, can I have an help?? our time is really counted

thank you for your assistance.

I tried all the processors on the CPU1 slot and they are all good but when I place a processor on CPU2 slot  the server does not start.

yes, the motherboard configuration is :

slot 1: CPU1

slot2: CPU3

slot3: CPU2

slot4: CPU4

I begin to think like you I have a motherboard problem ....

Jmbathe,

It sounds like the motherboard may have failed.  We can check a couple things to verify. Did you test each processor in CPU1? Now this won't let it boot, but I want to see if the system responds differently with one of the processors. You will get a configuration error with this, but let me know if it does anything but the expected configuration error. 

If the same occurs for both processors then it is likely the motherboard.

Lastly, I have to ask to make sure. What slots are you placing the processors in? To make sure you are placing CPU2 in the proper slot, as they do not sit next to each other.

It is certainly a motherboard issue and it has something to do with the CPU2 slot. There might be a disconnection in pins at CPU2 slow or it might not be getting the proper power supply which causes it to stop functioning. Most probably there is a shorting somewhere when you connect to the CPU2 slot since shorting is the most common cause of voltage regulator failure.
