Firmware versions on Dell R720R ( and others ).
Dear All
My customer has a few R720 servers that I oversee. I want to make an ongoing plan for updating the firmware for these servers. The servers runs locked down RedHat, versions from 6.2 - 6.5. The customer will not allow any "external" software to be installed. What I'm allowed to is to run single scripts and standalone programs on these servers. What I'm looking for, is a method/script to get out all the hardware with firmware versions. This will give me a foundation for an upgrade path on these servers.
I have tried a few things, but they all look a little complicated, and it looks like they require me to install programs and services on the systems. What I'm looking for is an easy and "lightfooted" way of getting this information. I've tried the DRM, and from some "googling" it looked like this was a viable solution, but it looks like the only repository I can get from this program is the one for my Windows laptop.
I appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction here.
Thanks
Erling Kopperdal

Hi,
If all you want to do is collect the current versions that are installed, DSET is probably the easiest way and it is a single run tool. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=9J8T0
