Flash Sidewinder G2 with PowerEdge Firmware
We purchased a PE2850 motherboard from an online retailer to replace the motherboard of an existing machine. However, after replacing the motherboard, it now boots with a Secure Computer Sidewider G2 BIOS screen and reports as A01. The existing installed OS on the machine works fine and OpenManage reports no problems. However, I would feel a lot better if I knew it was the A07 firmware on the machine.
I downloaded PE2850_BIOS_WIN_A07.exe and execute it. The update said that it took place just fine, but upon boot it appears though nothing has changed. Any ideas on how I can get the firwmware updated?

Sorry, has a type. It's the compant Secure Computing. I'll take a look for the McAffee related post, might be the same deal.

"Secure Computer Sidewinder" seems to be related to McAfee ... there was another post on here about force-flashing a McAfee-branded 2950 BIOS back to a Dell BIOS from a former McAfee employee. That might help you get started.
However, if I were you, I would complain to your "online retailer" for selling you a McAfee-altered board rather than a Dell original.
