A hot-spare cannot protect a RAID 0. Nothing can. If you have data loss or failure on one drive, the data is gone. There is no error correction, no redundancy, and the only recovery is backup. Don't use RAID 0 unless you can afford to lose everything on it and have it down for however long it will take to restore from backup.

Hello
A hot spare will rebuild in place of a failed member of a virtual disk. The hot spare does nothing until it is needed as a replacement. The virtual disk must be a RAID level that is capable of operating in a degraded state with at least one missing member. RAID 0 is not capable of operating with a missing member, if a member fails the virtual disk will fail.
You can find information about hot spares and other information in the storage controller manual.
