H700 on Dell T410

Hi,

I want to upgrade my home lab server Dell T410 RAID Controller to H700 6Gbps.

The existing one is PERc6 3Gbps.

My questions:

1) Does H700 support Dell T410 server?

2) I want to install 5x 960GB MLC SATA3 6Gbps 2.5 Samsung Enterprise SSD - PM853T

And configure them as RAID 5 (total space will be around 4TB), will H700 support setup and storage size?

Thanks,

Hello,

The T410 does offer support for the H700 controller. However, that SSD part hasn't been validated with the server. I can't comment on whether or not they would work. The 4TB size won't be an issue, however.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Completely unrelated - the oud is a pretty cool instrument!

There are a few different designs that will fit the server. I expect the best thing I can do to assist is to give you some supported part numbers, if that would work for you.

1J8JJ, 1THG8, 39H7H, K883J

Those part numbers include designs that are similar to standard PCI design, as well as the H700I design. The cards would both do the same thing the same way, just be installed slightly differently.

Thank you for you kind reply.

I need one more small clarification,

Are there different H700 models for Rack and Tower server types?

Or one model fits both editions?

!

Regards the SSD, I will purchase them and update this post if it is compatible or not.

Regards,

Thank you,

I will order two H700 as their prices are not that much expensive, and see which one will work for my T410 server.

But I have noticed that the battery is not sold over the internet because it is considered as a hazardous material.

So can I use my existing battery (the one for PERc6 3Gbps) for H700 Controller?

From what I am looking at, I don't believe you'll have any issue. The batteries aren't broken up for specific PERC models, and the PERC6 revisions and the H700 were both used on the T410. You should be able to use the battery you have.
