High CPU Interrupt time
We have 2 Dell PE 650s that are running as Windows 2000 domain controllers. We installed Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) about a month ago, and it has been issuing alerts about the amount of time the CPU is spent serviving interrupts:
Extremely high processor activity detected. Processor: % Interrupt Time: _Total value = 10.3922067609313. The average over last 6 samples is 10.3922.
From watching perfmon on these servers, the % of time the CPU is servicing interrupts does spike quite frequently up to 100%.
On one of the servers, we have restaged it with W2K SP4, updated the BIOS to A05, updated the NIC and video drivers. The BIOS settings are still the default.
From looking at other servers, this situation is not normal. DSET didn't find any hardware errors, so we are at a loss as what is causing this problem
