IDRAC6 Not working poweredge r610

Hello,

I have literally tried to scavenge all possible resources videos and forums out there to find this solution. I have contacted dell as well and they seemed not to have one hence why I ask.

I have purchase a dell poweredge r610 came with idrac6 express module and idrac6 enterprise module.

I tried to configure the idrac6 in configuration settings and I have tried both dedicated and lom.

Now I have it set to dedicated as far as nic (tried vlan on and off)

My configuration has static:

Correct assignable ip

Correct mask

Correct gateway

Correct dns

I tried dhcp too to assign the ip address nothing worked

My switch does not even show a blinking light, the idrac enterprise does not show a blinking light.

I was under the impression that the idrac6 should work at least show me the interface without a license to be able to use express.

I just want to use idrac6 express I don't really need the enterprise but nothing on the network.

I tried to purchase both new idrac6 and idrac enterprise modules and tried to see if power is drawn from the respective circuits, this is not an hardware failure that's why I am asking here.

What should I do?

I would recommend to have only iDRAC express card and check whether you able to access iDRAC by connecting network cable to LOM1 of the server and configuring iDRAC to use LOM1. You need to configure network setting on iDRAC as per LOM1 network range in this case.

If you have a supported operating system installed on the server, you can install OMSA on the server and run racadm command to check whether iDRAC is working properly or not.

Hi @matrixG,

I would agree on Shine's suggestion. Remove iDRAC 6 Enterprise and work on iDRAC 6 Express at the moment. Here a shot from Google, set the NIC Selection to shared, and set the Active LOM to LOM1. If you have done all the configuration, when you insert LAN cable into LOM1, does the LED lid? Try using a known good network cable.

Both solutions worked!!!! I cannot put both as a solution though, I have switched to lom1 (port 1 of the server) and have followed the settings in the pic and it worked!!

I would totally high five you if I was there!

Thank you!

I am very pleased to hear that issue is resolved.

You can now try connecting iDRAC enterprise card and see whether it is working with NIC port on enterprise card. After inserting enterprise card you need to connect network cable to the network port on enterprise card and configure iDRAC in dedicated mode on iDRAC configuration utility.
