Can you update NIC firmware to latest and check the behavior? Did you tried configuring LCC with another NIC port and check the behavior.

You can also try to update server firmware remotely using iDRAC

Hi, "I went into windows and updated lifecycle." we need to know more about this bit. Like Shine said what version you were on and what you were trying to go up to and etc.

Here is a picture. That only difference is the bios is 2.9.0 now. I’m not at home to take a fresh photo with that. But that is the max firmware I believe for the nics.

i literally cannot do anything in LCC as it relates to firmware updates. I just get an error about either the nics arent configured or there is no ip or wrong ip etc.

yet the network is configured for dhcp for nic 1 and 2. There is no license for Idrac so some things I cannot set

It is configured  exactly as my other 2 T420s and yet I still cannot figure it out.

i did try setting nic 1 And 2 to have static ips but didn’t help.

Hello DellUserMichael,

The image did show up, thank you.. BIOS, NIC and iDRAC/LCC are at the latest firmware.

Do you see anything in the LifeCycle Controller log in the LCC that is related to the issue?

For your source are you selecting HTTPS  and using  downloads.dell.com

Check the steps for configuring the LCC network settings to see if that matches what you are doing.

Dell Lifecycle Controller - Network Settings.  This setting is only used when in the LCC. OS uses different settings.

LCC play list: covers DHCP and static configuration

Next steps troubleshooting I would recommend try a flea power drain, check results. If you still have the same issue try a NVRAM clear and check results

drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed).  After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in, then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.

Clear NVRAM - there is a map under the lid to show the jumper location. Shut down,  Set jumper to the Clear position, power on and Post up to the jumper error, shut down and return to original location.
