My first thought is it is not a M640 for VRTX.

 

The PowerEdge M640 is designed for use with the PowerEdge M1000e and VRTX blade enclosure.

Was this M640 from or for a M1000e chassis?

 

Try input your service tag here and see if it says M640 (for PE VRTX)
